db Bistro is a casual bistro located in the heart of Kitsilano on West Broadway...it is where the traditions of French cuisine meets the culinary taste of the Pacific Northwest. It is the perfect spot for a relaxed dinner with friends, a business meeting lunch, afterwork drink, or a group celebration in their private room which holds 20 sit-down.
The experience was amazing, the food was Taster's Choice.... they made it easy by extending their $38 Dine Out three-course dinner menu all summer long.
Tonights selection was made easier not only by the simplicity of their menu selection but with the gracious assistance from the Waiter and the suggested wine.
Tonights food experience started with a surprise from GM Chris Gonzales.....a complementary glass of champagne for all and Tartes Flambees which is a Crips Alsatian Flat Bread with Wild Mushroom to share.
As a choice of three appetizers, I selected the Country Pork Terrine "Grand-Pere" - Wild Mushroom, English Relish, House-made Pickles......cured perfectly and the pickles made a nice refreshing touch.
Bouillabaisse Provencal - Herb-crusted Halibut, Squid, Musels, Garli Rouille - Made to near perfection....as each empty plate was crytal clean at the end.
From a choice of three deserts, we chose the following two as must haves on everyone's next visit.
" Bittersweet Chocolate Bar" ~ Chocolate Cremeaux w/ Raspberry Sorbet.
"Lemon Tart" ~ Cassis Sorbet, Milk Foam
Finishing off with cup of herbal Chamomile T, we were provied with another complimentary signture item from db bistro, I belive this was the Apple Confit, which is a sugar puffed pastry with vanilla icecream.
