Talk Around Town ~ Vancouver

Below are some of the hidden treasures and talked about places to dine out in Vancouver.  I figure it would be best to summarize these places onto one post.  This gives an opportunity for people to compare the various types of food at the different restaurants that everyone in Vancouver is talking about and to get some tips on what they must order and what they should avoid.

Below in no particular order is a summary of some tasty must order entrees and some that you may want to pass....again, this is only opinion based on myself and the guest(s) that I've dined with...

Les Faux Bourgeois - French Food - overly hyped

Parking - Free Street parking and 6 car free parkade

Ambience - Romantic Vibe, Bistro
Food - Good portion size, heavy, tasty, homestyle, rich

Pate De Campagne - Great for sharing - not much flavour - not recommended

Pomme Frites, order alone as side or comes with Mussel Dish and various other dishes - nothing special, just taste like fries

Moules Mariniere - Mussels in what wine, garlic & parsley, comes w/ pomme frites - no special flavour

Salade de Chevre Chaud - Roasted goat cheese, crostini, walnuts, beets - good refreshing typical salad

Filet De Boeuf Grille - Tenderloin w/ potatoe gratin & glazed vegetables, juicy, taste like home cooking


Four Seasons - Yew Restaurant - WORTH GOING TOO

Ambience - Sexy, Great for Singles or girls night out for drinks, Great Bar Area, lively
Food - Fine Dining, Excellent, Wine Selection 1/2 price Sundays, Daily Specials ~ see website

Salmon Tartara - Wild Coho Salmon w/ Crispy Egg - never seen this combo, but poke the egg and the ozzing yolk and the tartar is such a good combo - HIGH Recommend !

This is what I mean!

Sable Fish - Soy glazed w/ Spicy Clam Broth - so moist, cooked to pefection - HIGHLY RECOMMEND


Roast Wild Coho Salmon - Dry, over cooked - NOT RECOMMENDED


Lollipop - Caramelised Chocolate Truffle Lollipop - NOT worth the order

Cobre Restaurant - Amazing "Neuvo" Latin fusion of Mexican, Cuban, Brazillian & Argentinian Flavour

Ambience - Trendy, Sexy, tasty dishes
Food - Tasty, great if you want a variety of Tapas for sharing, great cocktail selection
